sorry to use your site for this but i need info...........today (march 10th 2003), my mom got out of her 1987 monte carlo SS to check her mail. when she got back in it to take off, something jammed and it accelerated and drove 80 yards taking out a carport and missing another car by inches. this is the second time the car did that. the first time she was lucky and was able to get it stopped.she thought that the mechanic fixed it. but he obviously did not. if anyone knows of another incident like this email me.

I own a '87 monteSS and I would like some info on parts for my ss.I bought my ss over a year ago and loved it from the second I sat in the driver's seat.It's only my third car and all of my cars have been chev's.I bought it from a second owner who was a mechanic and took very good care of it.The SS only had 84,000 miles on it when I bought.The interior was in great condition and so was the body and under the hood. Besides from the paint wearing away I thought the car was perfect.I bought the car for 2,000 dollars. Nine months after buying the car I get into a accident and damage the front of the car. The car has been sitting in my fathers driveway since Oct of '02 and I've been laidoff for quite some time.I love the car, I take care of all my cars and would like to fix this one up and get running again as cheap as possible. But after seeing your site I would like to do more. I am sorry I wrote so much but it is the first time I am on a computer and the first time I found a site about monte SS's. Tell me if you think I got the the car for a good deal with the info I gave you. Ken M.

Hey Aaron. I can't belive this day has come. Since I was like 8 I've been dreraming of getting a Monte SS, espesially an 85 (that's the year I was born) but I agreed that I would settle on any year with the 83-88 body. Well about a month ago I bought an amazing 87 ss formerly from Georgia but the guy I bought it from lives in Brown Deer, WI about 20 min away from my home in Milwaukee. Its black and it looks like some crap Maaco job. But getting to the point, I was surfinf the web lookin for some sweet SS picks, when I came across this site. First anger hit me, than shock, but now I guess I can accept that someone else out there had a great idea to paint the SS red. People I know and have been talkin to about that idea since I was like 12 always were tellin me that "its a bad idea", and "Just give the stock job" or "If your gonna go original dont do red" Some people are tellin me that Im gonna get pulled over more cause of the red, but I already know Im gonna get pulled over like a manic anyways so like all the other comments are disregarded it. But as I can see, and now show others my car is going to look great, just like yours. What made u go red? Do u know anyone else with the same red paint on their SS? What color and were did u get the paint? Do u still have the car? Thats it, and sorry for the life story, but its kinda wierd because I used to pride myself on going to have the only red monte around, guess not. Untill later, Peace. Kyle

i own a monte carlo ss.im only 15,but i get my liscense in december.my monte is a 84,and its in pretty good shape.its light blue w/ light blue interior.it has a new 350 engine /and a new transmission.i plan on getting it painted purple w/ two pink racing stripes from front to back on top of the car.note: my favorite colors are pink and purple.i alo want to get some 180 spoke chrome rims on it.i plan on entering lots of car shows.

Keep that Monte. We f***** up and sold my wifes 88SS a few monthes ago. Ill be keeping mine as long as I can. Its tubbed with an aluminum head small block that runs 12.20s on street tires. Ive owned that car for 15 years now and dont plan to let it go. Way too much money in it now!!

lettering. It has 35,000 miles on it and he bought it
off the GM office parking lot when he went into work one day...We have been keeping it for all these years for some reason. Two years ago he agreed to go to Dollywood and sell it. There are huge car shows there..all kinds on all different dates. They are much bigger than Detroits. You cannot drive down the street on that weekend and
the show cars are parked several deep all along the road for miles...we went once and saw so many cars..some belonged to famous people and most have for sale signs on them. We might go over and get rid of
the Z if J. ever gets in the
mood...I am tired of storing
it all these years..we don't drive it...just keep
insurance on it.So if you

I really enjoy reading and knowing that a lot of people love and cherish their monte carlo's. I have a 1984 that is basically stock and just love knowing I own one. In my younger days I owned a 1976 that my father bought brand new and I begged him to sell it to me. well the cam lobes wore down for the gas pump so we put in a electric pump and it burned up a couple of months later. what a loss. just want to add that we all appreciate all the hard work and dedication from you and keep your great monte's and stories going strong. I love monte carlos. This is a great site. I really like your monte. When I get my site I will let you know. My monte is an 84 spourt coupe but i dropped in a 350 olds rocket with a 350 tubo with a second stage shift kit. It is pretty fast. I just painted it blue. Very nice cars.

I just got a 1975 Monte Carlo a week ago, plenty to fix! The guy that owned it previously painted it Crazy Plum Purple. Working on striping the paint down,fixing rust,and finding parts. When i'm done with it the only things that wont be original is going to be the sound system, and paint job. The paint is going to be purple again and right now i have 2 MTX 12" subs with a 425 WATT MTX Amp, and Sony Explod 6x9s and up and coming is a 208 WATT Sony Explode CD player.

Hi I'm from upstate New York I bought a 87 monte carlo
ss a little over a year ago so far i put a sweet stero
in it but i'm still working on a coulpe other mods . as
far as the body i got a whole nem body kit stage 2 front
end stage rocker panels nascar rearend spoiler and a zr1
rearend i'm having the body repainted black when i bought
it the paint wasn't bad but after talking to a couple of
friends i decided that it really needed it. i'm not sure
what rims to get but i got a cheesy pair of nascar look
alikes.as far as the rest of the mods well i put flowmasters
on it the police love that. they love the stero as well i
think that all mods should be done by either next summers
or fall. Well gota get going maybe some time i'll be able
to send you a pic later

I noticed that you too were a young monte carlo motor head so I said I mine as well say hi. I got my monte when I was 17, and now at age 20 there has been a lot of changes. It went from the original 305 to a heavy moded 350. I started with just a 350 short block and now dynoed at 474 horses and over 390 torque, and although it was a costly mod nothing is to much for my monte. Keep up the work on your monte.

I have a 1989 Silver w/t tops. 205,000 miles on the original 305. Rebuilt the trans at 175,000. No trouble, just did it. New paint and RED stripes - better than the factory grey. I just want to say that this is a real cool site me, myself is also 17, and I also own a monte carlo, it's an 85', but it's not a super sport, but it does have a few ponies, it started off with a v6, wich I took out, and dropped a 350 in it. It has a 4bolt main a performance competition cam, a highrise eldgerblock intake, with a 4barrel carb (holley 650cfm) flowmaster exhaust(2chamber), and is backed by a 350turbo trans. The body is in great condition, it's charcoal grey, with the chevy rally sport rims.

Nice ride arron, problem is I don't anybody listing
any early 70's Montes "like Mine". I own a modified
pristene 72 Monte. It's flame orange with a black
vinyl top. It sports a ZZ4 pushing approx 470 hp,
almost the whole engine is chrome, including cool
flex hoses for both radiator, & heater hoses. I
decided to show it this last season, walked away
with 21 1st places, 1 best of show,4 seconds, & 1
3rd place, and won the Modified class Champion 2000
West TN Auto show circuit, and a class winner at the
Montgomery Super Chevy show. I'm preparing to paint
my engine well, stainless the firewall, & under the hood.
I adding a custom billet grille 3/8 tubular, a set
of ghost purple pearl flames across the front clip
and in the engine well. I'll drop a couple digital
pics when I finish her up before the season begins...
again nice ride, and site....keep up the good work of

I own a "88 SS". It's white with T-Tops and all
stock. I did remove the red stripes due them
peeling and cracking from the weather. I plan
on keeping it stock for now maybe someday replace

Hey bud good site, I been a SS Monte Lover
for years, My first SS was a 1985 Grey & Grey,
My second SS was a 1987 SS Iroc Charcol Grey
&Grey With Enky Center lines Smoked out windows
etc Sharp, but somebody liked it more then I did,
so they Stoled it right out of my driveway on
Nov. 20 2000, I just had to have another was
lookin for a 1988 SS but could not find, So I
found a 1986 SS Black & Grey Interior with 54,000
orginal miles floor shift Buckets (Stock) have
plans though next week putting in Electric Windows
& Door locks So this time I can put in an Alarm
With keyless entry. You had some good tips & Ideas
that Im going to use thank you. Do you know of any

shape, but not as nice as yours! I've been thinking
about running my exhaust like yours as I've recently
lost a chrome tip anyway. Take care of your car and
